This year was the first time Cleveland was apart of the How Sweet The Sound Verizon Experience Choir Competition. Ed Powell of Praise 1300 was there to welcome the hosts and judges of the show, Donald Lawrence, CeCe Winans, Karen Clark Sheard, James Fortune and Marvin Sapp . This is the first time Cleveland has seen Marvin Sapp after the passing of his beloved wife Malinda Sapp. He performed live for Cleveland and as you can see he continues to praise God in the midst of it all. He is a true testimony of God’s strength. Check out this video of Marvin Sapp’s performance in Cleveland.

Bebe & CeCe Winans will receive stars on The Hollywood Walk Of fame in 2011.

The brother and sister duo of BeBe (Benjamin) and CeCe (Priscilla) Winans are the seventh and eighth of “Mom” and “Pop” Winans’ ten children, most of whom have had successful Gospel music careers. While BeBe and CeCe were in high school, four of their elder brothers formed the successful Gospel music group The Winans. Initially known as The Winans Part II, BeBe and CeCe first appeared in the public eye when they debuted in 1982 as part of the singing group The PTL Singers on the long running popular Christian television show Praise he Lord. They were introduced by Jim Bakker by their childhood nicknames and recorded their first album Lord Lift Us Up as a duo for PTL Records.

Gospel music will be added to the SuperBowl 2011 the events Committee announced Wednesday that the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration will be in full swing during Super Bowl Weekend February 4, 2011, at Music Hall at Fair Park. Quarterbacks, linemen, safeties, and others not playing in the Super Bowl will be taking off their helmets and singing alongside well-known gospel singers.

This week in Gospel News brings us a new baby and Music World’s Roster.

Congratulations to one of gospel music’s most popular choir directors, Evidence Gospel/Light Records recording artist James “J.J.” Hairston and his wife ,Trina Hairston, on their exciting new addition to the family. The Hairstons welcome a beautiful baby girl, Jayelle Lalah Hairston, born June 3, 2010 at 4:29 am ET. Baby Jayelle weighed in at 6 pounds, 12 ounces and is reportedly doing great.

Music World Entertainment announces a newly established gospel music label, Music World Gospel. The label will succeed the company’s faith-based label, Spirit Rising with the award-winning recording artists and special projects joining the new venture. Music World Gospel roster of artists and compilation projects include, Juanita Bynum, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Brian Courtney Wilson, Micah Stampley, Pastor Rudy Rasmus and The ESSENCE Gospel Project. A Spirit Rising compilation CD will retain its name being released through Music World Gospel.

The Gospel Music Festival will take place June 5 & 6, 2010 in Millennium Park. The festival features more than 50 performances on three stages and activities for the whole family to enjoy including a gospel art fair.
